Identity and Vision...

Striving to help you connect to Jesus

We are a community of believers who worship in a contemporary style and who learn in a variety of exciting ways what the Bible has to say today.

Our church is committed to helping people, not just learning a bunch of facts, but rather living out our faith in our day-to-day lives.

Thoroughbred is not a church for everyone. Many people want church to be something they do once a week and that's not who we are. We believe God cannot only make a difference in our lives for eternity, but He wants to make a difference in our lives today!

So if you're looking for a comfortable pew, contact me and I can give you the number of several churches where you can sit and soak. If you're looking for a challenge, someplace where you can become the person that you've always felt God wanted you to be, then visit Thoroughbred!

Our Emphasis

We are a church that treasures the teaching of the Word. We're not going to have 10 minute "Bible Study-lite" messages. We believe that it is through the study and application of the Word that we grow. We will have time after the talks for questions and each talk will focus more on how to apply the truth we have studied than in what was going on 2,000 years ago.

Membership --- too easy?

It's easier to join most churches than it is to join a country club. That's not the case with Thoroughbred. Membership means something. Before anyone can join this church they will attend a training session where the purposes for the church and the expectation of members will be spelled out. Following that they will meet with members of the leadership team to see if they have questions or suggestions.

We encourage our members to be involved in the community. We feel that coaching a child's soccer team or volunteering in the school can be as important an act of worship as anything that is done at the church. We value relationship and believe that in a day when few of us even know our neighbors, it is imperative that the church take a leading role in helping each of us develop a sense of community.

We didn't know it at the time but we are also a family integrated Church. We keep the kids in the service with us (at least those over 3 years old). Honestly, it's more than a little inconvenient but we want to train our children to be able to listen, learn and worship in the same way thier parents do. There seems to be a process involved in the kids as they adjust but the results are pretty beautiful.

We also value service to others. Jesus said that we were to be His body after He went to be with the Father. This is one of the reasons that we are not planning on purchasing a building for at least ten years. We want to invest the money in ministry, both to those who attend the church and to those who may never darken the doors. Well, those are just a few of the things that are different about us. We encourage you to pray for us and we invite you to contact us for more information. You can e-mail Butch or contact me by phone at 859-553-0462.

Come meet our Family!
